While President Bush is praying against the "forces of evil," tens of thousands of people worldwide are praying every Friday at noon that our Texas gun-slinging President "come clean" about government complicity in 9/11.
A Wisconsin college professor, disgusted with the Bush administration and the war in the Middle East, has formed a worldwide alliance of people from all faiths who have banned together to stop American imperialism by first getting to the bottom of the 9/11 story.
Here is how the group began:
Kevin Barrett looked out the window of his Wisconsin home, took a deep breadth and made a decision in January 2004 that changed the rest of his life.
Although the familiar countryside view remained the same, his feelings about the post 9/11 world he lived in had changed drastically. Once content with America, he now was restless, uneasy and dissatisfied.
And his feelings reached a boiling point on that cold and snowy January morning after reading a book written by David Ray Griffin entitled The New Pearl Harbor: Disturbing Questions about the Bush Administration and 9/11.
"After reading the book, I knew I had to do something to change this climate of war and hate started by the Bush administration," said Barrett, a 1992 convert to the Muslim faith and a former college English Literature professor who recently received his PhD from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
But little did he know his idea "to do something" would quickly grow into a nationwide movement, uniting high-powered figures from the Christian, Jewish and Muslim world in what he calls "an organized worldwide alliance" of all faiths to find out the truth behind 9/11.
"I've always been more interested in literature and spirituality than activism, but post-9/11 events have forced my hand. I have two children, and a world under the sway of the 9/11 big lie is not an acceptable one for them to grow up in," said Barrett.
"After the Fallujah holocaust, I began MUJCA-NET, which is basically a web site and an organization to unite all faiths to seek the truth about 9/11. Our biggest project so far was a speech at University of Wisconsin/Madison featuring author David Ray Griffin that was picked up by C-Span."
Explaining the idea behind his organization, which includes many high-profile names from all corners of the world, he added:
"MUJCA-NET is a group of scholars, religious leaders and activists dedicated to uniting members of the Jewish, Christian and Islamic faiths in pursuit of 9/11 truth. We believe that the process of joining together in search of the truth about 9/11 will bring enormous benefits, regardless of what truths we may discover.
"While our endorsers and supporters have different views about the probable level of U.S. government complicity in 9/11, all of us agree that a new, honest investigation of the possibility of official complicity is a matter of the most urgent national and global importance."
Barrett’s idea quickly spread, even attracting Catherine Austin Fitts, former Republican Assistant Secretary Housing in the Bush I Administration. Fitts, an avid supporter and a Christian, left the cabinet post after trying to expose corruption in HUD when she discovered criminal syndicates manipulating big city housing markets and other HUD monies being underhandedly dished out to the CIA.
Also suspecting government complicity in 9/11, Fitts let her thoughts be known in a 2003 letter sent to now Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, asking for a honest and thorough 9/11 investigation as well as accusing higher-ups in the Bush administration with complicity in 9/11.
" It is Catherine Austin Fitt’s, commitment and faith that led her to expose the oil-guns-drugs mob of corrupt spooks who currently rule America," said Barrett. "She wrote a blistering public letter to Condi Rice charging Rice and the rest of the Bush II foreign policy mob with complicity in 9/11."
After writing her scathing letter to Rice, Fitt’s then wrote Barrett, asking:
"Is there any way that we could start a prayer and meditation for 9/11 truth. I was recently very moved by the video, Transformations, available from www.sentinelgroup.org about the power of community prayer. If we could reinvent this notion on a non-denominational basis, it could be very powerful."
Barret said Fitt’s idea gave birth to MUJCA-NET’s Day of Prayer for 9/11 Truth where every Friday afternoon participating Muslims, Christians and Jews, along with well-wishers from other faiths and traditions, spend a few minutes praying or meditating for 9/11 truth.
It’s impossible to put an exact numbers who participate each week, but based on group membership and the group’s rough calculations, it is estimated to be in the tens of thousands worldwide.
"The Friday Day of Prayer for 9/11 Truth began with the New Year of 2005 and will continue until 9/11 truth issues are resolved," said Barrett. "To participate, simply take a few minutes from your lunch break on Fridays to pray or meditate for 9/11 truth. Muslims who participate in Friday congregational prayers can offer a petition to God, for 9/11 truth at the appropriate moments during the services. Those from other faiths can support Muslims, also victims of the official myth of 9/11, by offering the same prayer or meditation according to the custom of their own traditions.
Once limited to a small number of internet and journalistic skeptics, the 9/11 truth movement has grown dramatically over the last year, as new facts and information have placed much doubt in the minds of many Americans about the credibility of the Bush administration’s official version of 9/11.
It is estimated in a recent Zogby Poll that more than 50%of New Yorkers believe the government was complicit in 9/11 and is not telling the whole truth about the events before, during and after 9/11.
And the list of supporters to Barrett’s Mujca-Net is a good indication of the growing mistrust of the government’s account of 9/11, as members are joining from corners of the world.
Besides Fitts and Griffin, others who endorse Barrett’s cause as well as seeking truth from the Bush administration regarding possible complicity or foreknowledge of 9/11 include Faiz Khan, M.D., New York City: 9/11 first responder; Israel Shamir, Russian-Israeli intellectual, writer, translator and journalist; Rev. George Pixley, retired Baptist minister and Professor of Biblical Studies (Ph.D. University of Chicago); Rev. David E. Roy, Ph.D.; Rosemary Radford Ruether, Carpenter Professor of Theology, Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley, CA; Kent Mayfield, Unitarian Minister; Amir Salih Erschen, Madison Muslim Dawa Circle; and Dr. James Goulding, Adjunct Member of Religious Studies Faculty at Edgewood College and Professor of Religion Emeritus at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois.
Regarding Griffin, who was the inspiration behind his project, Barrett said:
"David Griffin, also a Christian, is one of the most respected theologians in America. The author more than twenty books on philosophy and theology, Griffin risked his life and reputation by publishing The New Pearl Harbor and The 9/11 Commission Report: Omissions and Distortions. Together, these two books present a solid prima facie case that 9/11 was an inside job, and that the Kean-Zelikow Commission 9/11 report is pure fiction"
Presently, Barrett’s organization is preparing 9/11 awareness projects all across America, including speeches and rallies featuring the top names in the 9/11 truth movement. He is also in the finishing stages of his own book entitled The Myth Behind 9/11.
